CHIQUIBUL WILDERNESS HIGH ADVENTURE TREKS |
The Chiquibul Wilderness Adventure takes guests into the heart of the upland jungle, an area rich in biodiversity, home of jaguars, pumas and ocelots, rare Bairds, Tapir, Morelette Crocodile, howler monkeys plus numerous other jungle creatures, with nearly 300 varieties of birds, including Keel-billed Toucan, parrots Scarlet Macaw and Ocellated Turkey. Hidden In this jungle wilderness area are significant unexplored Maya ruins, caves, sink holes and other interesting geological features.
Day 1 - You will leave Casa Maya for the Chiquibul Wilderness by four wheel drive Land Rovers. There will be a stop for a refreshing swim at Guacamalla crossing of the upper Macal River. After arriving at the research station, you will take a jungle trek to the observation tower for an overview of the Chiquibul Wilderness. Dinner will be followed by a night jungle walk, if you are up to it. Dinner and overnight campout.
Day 2 - You will take a jungle trek to see scarlet macaws, rare birds, peccary and beautiful endangered ocellated turkeys, then tour massive Las Cuevas cave. After lunch you will go on a trek to see unmapped and unexplored Maya ruins and interesting jungle and medicinal plants. There will be an evening lecture. Dinner and overnight at Las Cuevas.
Day 3 - We will travel by Land Rovers to visit Caracol Ruins on the Vaca Plateau, and see archaeologists at work excavating this huge ancient Maya city. Dinner and overnight at Las Cuevas.
Day 4 - You will leave Las Cuevas after a hearty breakfast and tour Mountain Pine Ridge. At lunchtime we will stop at Five Sisters lodge, then take a swim at beautiful Big Rock Waterfall or Rio On Pools. Final stop will be Rio Frio Cave. Dinner and overnight at Casa Maya.
Price: The cost of the 4 Day Chiquibul Wilderness Adventure is $400 per person for 4 or more;
$450 for 2 or 3.
Price: The all inclusive cost of the Raspacula Wild River Adventure is $450 per person for 4 or more; $500 for 2 or 3. This includes transportation, food and camping professional guides, cave and jungle tours, transportation to river, all equipment, food on the river, return transportation from Macal River to Casa Maya.
